

Boris Johnson has mentioned he desires to stay prime minister and lead the Tories into the subsequent normal election, it has been reported.
In keeping with The Telegraph, the PM – who introduced his resignation simply two weeks in the past – advised Conservative peer Lord Cruddas he needed to “wipe away” something stopping him from staying in Quantity 10.
Greater than 10,000 Tory members have signed a petition organised by Cruddas demanding they be given a vote on whether or not Johnson must be allowed to stop.
The peer and the PM reportedly had lunch at Chequers on Friday at which Johnson spoke of his remorse at being pressured out over his dealing with of the Chris Pincher affair.
Cruddas advised The Telegraph: ”“right here was no ambiguity in Boris’s views. He positively doesn’t wish to resign. He desires to hold on and he believes that, with the membership behind him, he can.”
The peer added: “He desires to carry on to finish the job. He desires to combat the subsequent normal election as chief of the Conservative Celebration.”
Responding to the report, one Tory MP advised HuffPost UK: “Expensive oh pricey. Mad.”
The prime minister’s official spokesman poured chilly water on the prospect of Johnson remaining in workplace.
He mentioned: “The prime minister has resigned as get together chief and set out his intention to face down as PM when the brand new chief is in place.”
The report comes as Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss put together to go head-to-head in a reside TV debate of their contest to switch Johnson as Tory chief and prime minister.
